Brujo Nativo turn toward celebration on “Carnaval” after debut La Fuerza

Brujo Nativo — Carnaval

After releasing La Fuerza in mid-2025, Brujo Nativo are opening another stage with “Carnaval”. The Chilean band’s new single is available on digital platforms and pairs heavy rock with Andean folk elements, placing celebration and freedom at the center of the song.

Charango and flute are prominent in the arrangement. The press release connects the music with Andean carnivals and La Tirana, while also acknowledging Los Jaivas as part of the tradition it evokes. These reference points extend the group’s established interest in combining rock with regional instruments.

Lucier (JM Carrasco), who wrote the song and performs vocals and flute, links “Carnaval” with the earlier single “Buitre”. He describes it as a spiritual continuation of that song’s energy, but with a different subject: instead of recounting a legend, it considers celebration and the working class’s right to find enjoyment and freedom.

For bassist Imago (Ismael Vicencio), the carnival represents a way to leave daily burdens behind for a moment and celebrate with one’s community. His account connects that idea to the satisfaction he finds in making music.

Brujo Nativo formed in 2022. Their approach brings conventional rock instrumentation together with charango, quena and zampoña, and their songs have addressed Chilean culture, magic, mortality, roots and local mythology. The new single builds on the musical foundation of their debut rather than abandoning it.

Production credits identify Marco Iribarne for recording, mixing and mastering. Vocals and flute were recorded by Diego Clavero at the Universidad de Chile studio. SMNK Films handled direction, recording and editing of the audiovisual component.

Alongside Lucier and Imago, the lineup includes guitarist Phill Black (Felipe Madrid), charango player Voodoo Chelo (Marcelo Figueroa) and drummer Taro (Lucas Gallardo). The supplied official video accompanies the release.
